Project Restoration

HOW CAN WE "BE THE CHURCH"?

What if you lost your job and the bank took your home? What if entire neighborhoods evacuated, leaving homes abandoned and desolate? What if you were one of the few who remained?

In these uncertain times, these what ifs are a reality for many in the Silicon Valley. In these communities, gangs have begun to take over abandoned and deteriorating homes. Violence has increased. Those who remain stay isolated in homes they can't sell, trapped in circumstances they cannot change.

On Saturday, August 1st, Calvary Church will be partnering with Beautiful Day and a network of churches in the South Valley to assist Cryy Out Fellowship, a church in the midst of the 95111 zip code - one of the communities most devastated by the recent foreclosures. Project Restoration will work alongside of Cryy Out to mow, sweep, clean, de-weed, paint, cover up graffitti, and encourage the many neighbors left in despair. No tools are needed. Simply dress in cool, work clothes and bring a bottle of water.

Participants will meet at Cryy Out Christian Fellowship (see map) at 9:00am on Saturday morning and work until 1:00pm. Parking is available at nearby Andrew Hill High School. Please carpool if you are able. Project Restoration will conclude with a BBQ at Cryy Out Christian Fellowship at 2:00pm. Please sign up by clicking on the link below.

THANK YOU TO CALVARY
FOR FATHER'S DAY GIFT

Dear Calvary Church,

Please accept our sincere thanks for your support of our neighbors-in-need with your generous donation of $500 on June 19, 2009, in support of our Faith-in-Action Rotating Shelter....This could not have come at a more critical time. Last year, we saw nearly 30% rise in neighbors seeking assistance and will likely rise higher this year.

There is simply no description or value that can be placed on the peace of mind our neighbors feel when they realize they no longer have to worry about what they and their family will eat, where they will sleep, and how they will pay this month's bills.

Calvary Church and all of its members are treasured partners and we appreciate your commitment to helping our neighbors-in-need.

Sincerely,
Naomi Nakano-Matsumoto

Little Flock Children's Home

PRAYER REMINDER: India GO Team Leaves Today
July 23 - August 8

Today, 27 high students and staff got on a plane to fly to Chennai, India. For the next two weeks, these teenagers will teach English, share Bible stories and assist with various ministries to dozens of orphan children living at the Little Flock Children's Home just outside of the city.

For many of these teenagers, this trip will be a life-changing experience. During the next two weeks, please remember to pray for them as they share Jesus far beyond the walls of Calvary Church. Ask God to keep them safe, give them courage, and speak directly to their hearts.
