FINDING HOPE IN THE MIDST OF DESPAIR

Barry never thought he would be at this place. At age 60, his wife of 18 years decided to leave. Although Barry wasn’t surprised, the idea of starting over left him alone and confused.
“Discovering the Divorce Recovery program at Calvary Church was just what I needed to keep moving forward,” says Barry, who joined the program a few weeks after it began last fall. “It helped me manage the emotional rollercoaster of divorce and avoid potentially devastating mistakes that I could have made out of fear or loneliness.”
Like several others who joined the Divorce Recovery program last fall, Barry found more than healing. He discovered new friendships that lasted well beyond the group environment. “As a group, we want to spend more time with each other,” says Barry. “Instead of loneliness, we have developed a warm, friencdly atmosphere of support.”
His friend Amy was only in her 30s when divorce left her broken and alone. A single mother of two children, she craved companionship, healing and support. The Divorce Recovery program was an answer to her prayers.
“The class helped me grow as a Christian,” says Amy. “The course itself is very healing and the people I have met have become very close, safe friends.”
Amy plans to join the class again this spring, but this time, to serve and help lead the group. “I am very excited to give back to what the class has given to me.”
The Divorce Recovery workshop meets on Tuesday from 7-8:30pm in the Small Chapel. The spring series begins on February 24.
